Information about Navision
We offer to install Microsoft Dynamics NAV system (further referred to as “NAVISION”), short description of which is presented below.
1. Short description of Navision standard modules
NAVISION is accounting and business management system, which was created in Denmark using the new technologies. The system is sold in 34 countries and translated into 21 languages, it has complete Lithuanian language features as well. Currently there are approximately
45 000 system installations, most noteworthy of which are: Adidas AG, AC Nielsen, BASF AG, Florimex Worldwide GmbH, KIA Motors GmbH and etc. In Lithuania this system is installed in 700 companies as “Vilniaus kailiai”, “Vilga”, “Odos ir kailių klasika”, “KITS”, “Sermeta”, “SLO” and etc.
NAVISION allows permanent access to any economical activity period of a company or organization, enables to coordinate estimates with actual data and use accounts of multiple measurements. It is widely known that the essence of financial accounting is the plan of accounts. NAVISION system lets you use the required plan of accounts, which can be easily switched to another one when needed. With NAVISION you can simultaneously perform the accounting of various company divisions – a balance sheet of both individual division and joint company can be easily obtained.

The main book is the most important Navision segment where all information is registered, processed and summarized. You can concentrate all your company accounting information in the main book segment. There the data is being constantly updated, all records related to one particular record that you are interested in can be found due to detailing tools, and all users can simultaneously introduce and register data. Flexible work tools enable to receive the necessary information promptly. There is a wide range of tools designed for external and internal analysis, which allow to create required reports (VAT, annual, profit and loss, etc.). Setting the plan of accounts according to your company needs, you will be able to obtain specific data of current or previous financial year. In the plan of accounts you can settle all required accounts and, if you find it necessary, add new accounts or modify the ones already settled. The balance of each account is constantly updated. You can view them using date, project, division, budget and economical subject filters, which can be easily set, modified or cancelled. Every record registered in the Main book is documented, therefore it is very simple to find any necessary record. Function of processing several types of currency makes international operation administration quick and effective. Navision provides a flexible possibility to register different tax tariffs, which are applied to distinct groups of goods and services. An unlimited number of bank accounts can be managed and their balance in litas and foreign currency can be checked according to bank extracts.
Inventory is the Navision segment designed for all company stock management. Various operations of company activity are related with stock data, therefore this information is indispensable to the whole company, its divisions and employees. Inventory segment is flexible and can be easily set. Within the inventory segment there are tools designed to control the inventory in according to specific company necessities: you can create price lists in different currencies, control the inventory by serial number, sort or place. Consequently goods can be described in different manners. Each good is assigned a card with all the information needed for the inventory management. Each card can indicate sale measurement units of goods, information about weight, and quantity of units in package, unit volume and expiry date. The inventory data in the Main book can be controlled by register groups. These groups associate inventory goods with particular inventory accounts of the Main book. The number of register groups is unlimited.
The processing function of goods, which have gathering specifications (manufacture cards), enables to create gathering specifications of various levels. After registering such a good in the Main book, the inventory is automatically adjusted. When you spread the gathering specifications, you can see individual goods that compose it.
Different measurement units can be calculated into a necessary measurement unit.
Necessary information in the inventory segment can be easily accessed using detailing function, which allows to control goods purchase and sale orders, also have a quick view of sufficiency of goods during certain periods of time, selecting the view by day, week, month or year. Inventory segment contains a wide range of valuable and useful for business information. Such information is presented in form of book record summaries, goods statistics and printed reports.
Navision Fixed assets segment is an effective tool for company fixed assets organization, management and accounting. You can view all the information related to fixed assets: purchase net cost, depreciation, repair expenses, insurance contracts. In addition, you can sort information on assets under various criteria: number, inventory, division, project, asset groups and place codes. Fixed assets can be set as a separate individual unit or it can be composed of various components. Likewise, you can indicate depreciation calculation manner and choose depreciation calculation frequency. Fixed assets can be dissolved into various parts or several fixed assets components can be joined into one.
Sales and receivables is a completely integrated base segment of the Navision program, where international operations of sales and receivable quantities are comprehensively processed. Main functions are the following: a possible choice of euro or national currency when creating and registering sales documents, or issuing invoices; management of operations with buyers, applying flexible payment conditions; printing reports and reminder notes about the payable quantities; flexible invoice issuing and payment functions; effective; unique buyer data base development. This segment contains all tools needed to prepare summaries of receivable quantities and all data control.
Purchase and payables is the program segment, which processes the operations of processes and payable quantities. Main functions are the following: a possible choice of euro or national currency when creating and registering purchase documents, or paying invoices; effective management of supplier payment operations in accordance with payment term summaries; flexible tools for processing supplier invoices, designed to pay them in parts, to allocate and reallocate expenses; automatic purchase order creation; supplier data base.
Design tools allow the user to create and modify existing reports and forms, adapting them with more precision to the user needs.
Technical Information about Navision
NAVISION is designed for Windows graphic environment. The user interface is standard and common to any Microsoft Office user. Context help can be requested in any field.
NAVISION is distinguished by its remarkable flexibility. The settings are created by modifying entries in certain configuration tables, user can change field layout in forms and reports and many of their properties. NAVISION has its programming language. Joint Stock Company “NAVIRANTA” owns a licence, which permits to program additional modules or individual components at user’s request. NAVISION module "Program composer" enables the client to realize some of the special calculations using his own resources.
“Navision” is a client/server architecture system. There is an optional choice of TCP/IP or NETBIOS connection protocol. Using TCP/IP protocol the user can connect to a remote NAVISION server (even located in another country). Server is necessary in multiple user environments (it can simultaneously attend up to 251 users). NAVISION clients receive form the server only the quantity of information they need to display in the screen or to copy into variables. Due to this reason the network is not overloaded, client’s high working speed is maintained. All data processing and selection is performed by the server.
NAVISION dedicates great consideration to data security and their internal compatibility. In order to limit data access, Navision user system with log-in names and passwords (which can be assigned expiry terms) is used. Every user can be assigned a specific period of time to work with the system and then the system can register how long he really worked. Created users can be joined into user groups and given various rights (users acquire the rights of the groups to which they belong) to read, insert entry, modify, delete entry, and execute all base objects (tables, forms, reports, functions, etc.). In addition, Navision allows distributing rights to perform specific operations. An individual menu can be created to every user, where he will not see anything he was not given the right to see.
NAVISION is very stable. Voltage disruptions do not damage data base. Special tools can be used to test data base structure correctness and perform back-up copies of various levels (depending on the choice what objects are to be archived). Large data base can be decomposed into several files, saved in different disks of the same computer. In this way reading/writing speed is increased.
Several ways are used for data exchange with other programs. There are special base objects, designed to import data from text file to internal tables and also to export data from internal tables to text files, with a very wide range of possibilities. In addition, using Navision ODBC organizer, data from Navision base can be read in other programs that support ODBC standard.
NAVISION system is trusted by the audit. The registration operations in the base fill in certain tables with quantities, the entries of which cannot be modified after the registration. If a mistake is made, correctional operations must be performed.
To work with NAVISION you need a licence, which indicates the information about its owner and rights to the purchased NAVISION modules. NAVISION is segmented into many modules according to the designed purpose and every module has its price. The buyer chooses and pays only for the modules he needs. The licence can be expanded at any time.
